A Background of Patrick Tan’s Achievements

Patrick Tan is a Duke-NUS Medical School professor and the Deputy Executive Director of the Biomedical Research Council. He completed his BA from Harvard University and MD PhD from Standford.

Tan is known for his research on the development of genomic approaches to unlock the molecular and clinical diversity of gastric cancer. He is also a senior principal investigator of the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, National University of Singapore. Tan is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) and a Bioethics Advisory Committee (BAC) member. BAC offers advice to the government of Singaporean ethical problems associated with biomedical research.
